DAY8

Oh yeah...doors baby!

After yesterdays disappointment with my doors, I decided to get on with fixing the rather big hole. I used pallet planks to basically rebuild the door, wedging, screwing and sticking them in place. I was rather pleased at first, until I tried to pick the door up - heavy was an understatement.

Stupidedly I had not accounted for the extra weight and combined with the fact that my wife was away and therefore had no help....I was stuck!

Well, just like the man who has to carry ALL the shopping bags in from the car in one go, I had to crack on. I wasn't going to let a little thing like gravity and mass get in my way. Somehow, while up a ladder holding the 2m (and very heavy) door in place with one hand and power drill + screw in the other (and I think my mouth was full of screws as well) I was able to screw the hinges to the frame. I am pretty sure I broke many H&S rules, but I succeeded and felt very manly in the process.

This was my least favourite job yet and with hindsight should have waited for my wife to return, but I had doors baby!
